Made by Charles Alexandre Lesueur (1778-1846), who was his manager, his collections have been severely degraded during the Second World War. They consist of specimens of paleontology, prehistory and zoology as well as 8000 drawings and manuscripts

Throughout the year, the Natural History Museum of Havre offers fun and interactive exhibitions to discover and understand the wonders of the animal world, vegetable and mineral.

The Museum occupies a building of classical architecture in stone. Building dating from 1760 was first used as a courthouse. It was converted into a museum in 1876.
