The Palace of Fine Arts in Lille is one of the largest museums in France and the largest museum of fine arts in the province the number of works exhibited. Taken from a collection of about 60,000 works, the museum offers nearly 2000 for the visit. These are particularly 200 pieces of sculptures, paintings and works of art from medieval Europe and the Renaissance, over 500 painted works from the sixteenth to the twentieth centuries, some 135 sculptures of the nineteenth century, a fine collection of objects ceramics from the sixteenth to the early twentieth century and 16 relief maps the six-hundredth of fortified towns by Vauban.

Renovated between 1991 and 1997, the museum also hosts a temporary exhibition hall, an auditorium, a library and educational workshops.
